My 2 Months with the Asus Zenbook A14: Worth Every Penny??

Asus Zenbook A14

OK so I wasn’t planning on writing this at ALL, but after seeing that Best Buy deal for $899.99 on the Asus Zenbook A14, I just HAD to share my experience!! I’ve been using mine since January (got it as a late Christmas present to myself lol) and honestly, it’s been a rollercoaster.

The Unboxing Experience + First Thoughts

First off, can we talk about how Asus actually puts effort into their packaging?? Like, I was half-expecting some bland cardboard box but nope! The whole unboxing felt special, which is weird to say about a laptop but whatever.

When I first got my hands on it, I was like “wait, is this it???” It’s CRAZY light – like I sometimes check my bag twice cuz I think I forgot it at home. The blue color I picked (Ponder Blue) gets SO MANY comments when I’m working at Starbucks. My friend Jess literally tried to convince me to trade with her boring silver Dell lmao.

But yeah the build quality is solid af. No creaking, no cheap plastic feel. My old HP felt like a toy compared to this.

Using it Day-to-Day

So I’ve been using this thing for work (I’m a social media manager), Netflix binges, and some light photo editing, and here’s the real deal:

The screen…. OMG. It’s BRIGHT. Like, I can actually see what I’m doing when I’m sitting outside now! The colors are super vibrant too – when I was watching the new season of Bridgerton, those costumes popped like crazy.

I was kinda worried about the Snapdragon processor tbh. My boyfriend who’s all into tech specs kept saying “but it’s not Intel” 🙄 But honestly??? This thing FLIES. I regularly have like 25+ Chrome tabs, Spotify, Slack, and Lightroom running, and zero issues. Take THAT, tech bros!

Battery life is the real MVP here tho. I’ve been getting like 10-12 hours consistently!!! That’s not some fake advertised number – I’m talking REAL usage. Last week I forgot my charger at home when I went to my co-working space and I didn’t even panic. That would NEVER have happened with my old laptop.

The Little Things I Love/Hate

Things I’m obsessed with:

  • The keyboard doesn’t make super loud CLACK CLACK sounds when I’m typing late at night and my roommate is sleeping
  • It has actual USB ports!!! Not just those USB-C things that need dongles for everything
  • The fingerprint reader hasn’t failed me once (looking at you, iPhone)
  • It boots up FAST – like, I press the button and boom, I’m working

But it’s deff not perfect:

  • The webcam is trash in low light, which suuuucks for evening Zoom calls
  • It gets fingerprints EVERYWHERE omg
  • The fan occasionally makes this weird whirring noise out of nowhere?? It stops after like 10 seconds but it’s super random and annoying
  • The touchpad is good but not amazing… still sometimes does weird jumpy things

Real Talk About Performance

Ok so I’m not a gamer but I do use Photoshop and Lightroom a lot for work. This laptop handles my usual editing workflow without breaking a sweat. I was editing some photos from my friend’s wedding (I’m not a pro photographer, I just helped out) and everything was smooth as butter.

What surprised me most is how it stays cool! My old laptop used to get so hot I could literally cook an egg on it (not that I tried lol). This one stays weirdly cool even when I’m pushing it hard.

The 512GB storage seemed like a lot when I bought it but I’m already down to like 300GB left 🙈 Should’ve gotten the bigger storage option but whatever, I’ll just use my external drive.

The Price Thing

$899.99 is NOT cheap. Let’s be real. I had to eat ramen for like two weeks after buying this (worth it tho). But after using it for 2 months, I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. My friend paid like $1200 for her MacBook Air and this feels just as premium but with wayyy more ports and features.

I was actually looking at the Dell XPS too but it was like $300 more for basically the same specs?? Make it make sense.

Sooo… Should You Buy It???

If ur in the market for a new laptop and can afford to spend around $900, YES. A thousand times yes. Especially if you:

  • Need something super portable that won’t break ur back
  • Want battery life that actually lasts all day (for real)
  • Need something that looks professional but not boring
  • Don’t wanna deal with dongles and adapters for basic stuff

But maybe look elsewhere if:

  • You’re a serious gamer (obvi)
  • You need the absolute best webcam for lots of video calls
  • You’re on a tight budget (there are def cheaper options out there)

I’ve named mine Blueberry (yes I name my electronics, don’t judge) and honestly, it’s become my daily companion. Despite its few flaws, I’m obsessed with this laptop and would 100% buy it again.

P.S. This is NOT a sponsored post lol, just a girl who finally found a laptop that doesn’t make her want to throw it out the window every other day 😂

P.P.S. If you do get one, get a good case!!! The blue color can get little scratches that are super visible. I learned this the hard way…

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
